Discover the Enigma of Frederick II’s Castle
Private or Group Tours Available
Tour Description
An itinerary to discover Castel del Monte, the symbolic monument of Puglia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

Rising on a solitary hill (540 meters above sea level) just a few kilometers from Andria, Castel del Monte stands out in the Murgia landscape for its unique octagonal design, resembling a crown.
The number eight is repeated throughout this masterpiece of medieval architecture, eight octagonal towers at each corner, an eight-sided courtyard, and eight rooms per floor. Its shape and purpose have long been subjects of study and form a central part of our guided tour.

Built in the first half of the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, the castle embodies the refined engineering, mathematical, geometric, philosophical, and astronomical knowledge of its visionary founder.
The tour begins outside, highlighting the harmony and precision of the castle’s structure, and continues into the courtyard, the 16 interior rooms, and the towers with spiral staircases connecting the two floors.
The entire building is marked by striking contrasts in materials, coral breccia, limestone, and polychrome marble — that enhance its extraordinary elegance.
